General Information
What is GIS?
GIS enables users to integrate various data into one system, overlay map layers, analyze and model spatial data and, finally, visualize the results in maps, reports and charts. GIS can be used to represent any data which has a geographic component and is currently utilized in many fields including urban and regional planning, disaster planning and emergency management, natural resource management, environmental planning, public health, public utility, engineering, weather forecasting, history, archeology, political science, food science, housing, and many more.
